Given a brief to create a poster to commemorate Teddy Seymour – The 1st African American man to solo circumnavigate the globe – I went into serious research mode!

Upon finding out that the year was 1987 and that his boat was called Love Song – how adorable – I was very tempted to react through the visual equivalent of an 80s Power Ballad!

In the end I scaled it back and went with a clean simple graphic paired with an interesting textural element… a photographic of some crushed silk manipulated to resemble a swelling sea.
